    hi, after many years of drooling over moulton bikes i have finally managed to buy a second hand APB with shimano 8 speed rapid fire gears. colour is claret red.

    1.could you please help me identify the age of the bike…..? could you advise what numbers to look for and where they are on the bike and how that relates ……
    2. i realise that the bike is now superseded by the TSR model, but are there still front and rear racks and bags available for the APB and where could i obtain such items ?
    3. are mudguards still available for this APB model ? what is the maximum size of tyre for clearance with and without mudguards ?
    4, is there a manual available for the APB model ?
    5. there are some paint chips on the frame. what type of touch up paint would you recommend …its a Reynolds 531 frame.

    If it is a 531 frame I think it will be post 2000. Since they started the TSR range in the mid 2000′s you have to be in that 5ish year gap. I’d guess, from what you describe, that you have an FX8. (It will be if you got that one in Cambridge off ebay very recently)

    Mudguards should be available, @£40 from Moulton. Half that on ebay for 20″ currently, might be worth a punt. Not sure about rear racks the but the front racks (if you can get them, there may be a supply issue) can be adapted.

    Paint and manual? I’d ask Pashely.

    David – I have a rear touring rack, which is the original that came with the bike when I got it from Avon Valley Cyclery. I got one made that is lighter along with other other lightening efforts, as I am not a strong cyclist and was planning a trip fully loaded to Romania.
    It’s standard black. I live in Radlett, Herts WD78DP. If of interest – could you collect? – I could work out a price.
    Bags are available, and I use the “SewWhat” touring bag which is available from from AVC .

    For paint look in Halfords at the car touch up paints, find the nearest match. Helps if you can take a bit of the bike in!
