another safari, green listed in london on ebay, 4 speed sa and straight bars, is it an imposter? hedge fund managers must be putting their funds into moultons, one of the rattiest looking examples which i would have expected to go for 40 quid went for 80

the problem with a Major: the bottom bracket, Raleigh threading specification rules out most cost-effective bottom bracket bearings and chainwheels

The seller of the forks – not, I might add, to me – is a perfectly OK guy living near to me. I am informed that the buyer was happy to pay £150 if necessary.
The major problem with Fleabay is that the site happily allows an item to be de-listed, even when there are bidders a-plenty, usually for a B-I-N price or when the bid price fails to rise to expectations near to the end of a sale.

Hi Pandora! On the ‘Classic Vintage Green Moulton Touring Bike’, whether it was a Major/Major Deluxe or not, it looked like any problem with the bottom bracket had already been taken care of since it was shown fitted with a Specialities TA alloy chainwheel of the type used as standard on the Series 1 Safari model.

PS. I see that the rather tatty but original Safari model on Ebay UK is already at over £800 with 5 days still to run.

PPS. The rather tatty Safari on Ebay UK is now at £1,440 with 6 hours to go – ‘starts to make the £475 for the green ‘lookalike’ bike seem reasonable?!

The Major was possibly the better bike.
